Lionsgate's latest foray into the steelbook market (being offered as a Best Buy exclusive) is an appealing if appropriately slightly disturbing looking release of Apocalypse Now. This release offers only Disc One in both 2160 and 1080 formats from Lionsgate's previous Apocalypse Now 4K release of a few years ago, so this is the so-called Final Cut and only the Final Cut, with the brief Introduction by Francis Ford Coppola as the sole supplement on either disc. See below for two review links, and my description of the steelbook can be found in the Supplements section below as well.

As mentioned above, the sole supplement on either disc in this set is the brief Introduction to the film by Francis Ford Coppola. A digital copy is also
included.
The packaging of this steelbook highlights almost hellish looking oranges and yellows, with the slipcover emphasizing a close-up of Martin Sheen's
face contrasted with a silhouette of a soldier. The actual steelbook features another image of Sheen, this time in profile, with rifle on shoulder and a
cigarette at his lips, and with a small inset of the boat at the bottom. The back cover offers Marlon Brando's grim visage behind two more silhouettes of
soldiers. The imagery inside offers helicopters against a fiery sun, though this release sadly doesn't offer the smell of Napalm in the morning. My score
above reflects the paucity of on disc supplements coupled with an understanding that some may feel the steelbook itself is a supplement. One way or
the other, though, my hunch is fans of this film who like steelbooks will appreciate the look and feel of this release.
Steelbook collectors don't necessarily base their consumer choices solely on what's included in the release, since the whole point of the exercise may be the steelbook. In that regard, collectors will probably appreciate the almost demonic oranges featured on the steelbook and its slipcover, and the close-ups of Sheen and Brando are quite haunting in their own way. However, this release only offers the Final Cut of the film, and as this review is going live, the previous release of Apocalypse Now 4K which offers various versions of the film and a veritable glut of supplements is priced at well under $20.
