Writer/director Marc Davis doesn’t have a grand story to tell with 1985’s “Amber Aroused,” but he’s got a sense of humor about the picture. The helmer keeps things breezy in the film, sticking with unusual acts of seduction and some bizarre playtime among consenting adults, and there’s even a robot on the loose, going places Paulie’s robot from “Rocky III” never did. “Amber Aroused” is a starring vehicle for Amber Lynn, who provides a plucky performance and total commitment to adult cinema highlights in the feature, helping the endeavor reach a nice fun factor, playing it simple with a small cast of characters.
The AVC encoded image (1.85:1 aspect ratio) presentation is listed as a "Newly scanned and restored in 2K" from the "35mm original camera negative." There's good clarity during the viewing experience, with skin particulars appreciable throughout, exploring the various bodies of the cast. Household tours are dimensional, with a look at decorative additions. Exteriors are decently dimensional. Colors are rich, with cool blue pool waters and intense red lighting in the finale. Style choices register with vividness, and skin tones are accurate, exploring the tanned appearances of cast members in full. Lynn's blonde hair adds a little snap as well. Delineation is satisfactory. Grain is heavy and film-like. There are some jumpy frames, but this appears to be an inherent issue.
The 2.0 DTS-HD MA provides a clear understanding of dialogue exchanges, with some mild sibilance issues encountered. Scoring supports adequately. Sexual encounters register as intended.
There is no supplementary material on this release.
Again, there's not much of a tale to be told with "Amber Aroused," which is primarily used to sell Lynn's presence. She doesn't try to act, keeping her performance enjoyable, leaving the broad stuff to other cast members. She plays to her strengths in the movie, which ends with an orgy, as many of these productions love to do, only here the group action is helped along by Terry's special punch, spiked with love potion. Before you can say, "Wait, was this thing a 'Mary Poppins' riff?," Terry is gone, leaving behind a house of weakened bodies, warm memories, and a robot that someone should seriously wipe down.
