Always wanting to live the cowboy lifestyle, young John Grady (Matt Damon) sets off for a Hacienda in Mexico. While there, John enters into a passionate romance with the spellbinding Alejandra (Penelope Cruz), much to the displeasure of her powerful father. Doomed from the start, their illicit affair will culminate in murder and betrayal and young John will have to confront the ultimate test of inner strength and resilience.
