Alien: Covenant 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman August 12, 2019
20th Century Fox and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Director Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. The
disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below
for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Alien: Covenant 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

The SteelBook's front panel is of a predominantly gray color. The film's title appears above center in black letters with Ridley Scott's name above in
smaller type. A depiction of an alien, appearing partially transparent in the skull area, appears center, its arms, legs, and tail curled underneath (it
almost looks like a hovering Imperial Probe Droid). Darker gray,
teetering on black, appears at the bottom and along the sides almost in a "U" shape, but it gives way in the middle to a lighter gray center. The rear
side is a flat black with some very light gray, almost cloud-like, color at the top. An alien peers out of the shadows, the right side of its face illuminated,
a
snarling look on its face with alien drool leaking out of its mouth. Studio logos and a bit of legalese appear at the bottom in small white lettering. The
spine favors the rear side with a solid black stripe. The film's title appears in white letters, center. A Fox logo appears at the top. The front and rear
panels have a texture to them; this SteelBook will not show fingerprints under normal usage.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a black-and-white, shadowy depiction of a tangle of alien flesh
surrounding several victims. It's a jumble of limbs and faces that is difficult to see in detail but a rewarding exploration nevertheless.

Alien: Covenant 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

For this reviewer, Alien Covenant is a solid miss that fails to capitalize on the excellence of Scott's previous work in the franchise, both Alien and Prometheus. The SteelBook is at least attractive, favors minimalism,
and feels good in the hand. Recommended.
