47 Ronin 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman September 15, 2020
Universal and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the Keanu Reeves film '47 Ronin.' The disc and digital content
is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below
for more on the SteelBook's look and feel. Note that this SteelBook was delayed by several months, presumably due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

47 Ronin 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Universal's SteelBook is smooth and glossy and will display handling fingerprints in its darker areas. The front side depicts Kai, center, holding his sword
parallel to the ground, the blade facing towards his opponent off to the right (not visible). The character has been positioned within some colorful
supports, like fire along the bottom, a red streak running across the center, and wispy blue smoke top right. Black fills in most of the rest of the gaps.
The
film's title appears top center in white. There is some nice reflectivity to Kai's blade and the fire below. The rear panel depicts Mizuki upside down, face
forward, wearing a green dress with green wispy smoke lingering along the bottom. A dark red color appears behind her. A small white Universal logo
and
a copyright notice appear bottom center. The spine is black with the film's title center as it appears on the front. A white Universal logo has been placed
at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features Keanu Reeves' Kai standing resolutely on the left. Some creamy bokeh
effects fill the right hand side and a gray sky covers the top portion.

47 Ronin 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

It was a longer wait than many anticipated, but the end product is here and the 47 Ronin SteelBook is quite the looker. Clean, colorful, fluid
artwork define the front and back panels. The inner print is entirely uninspired, though. The UHD presentation is excellent. Recommended.
