Lionsgate continues apace with its seemingly random 4K UHD release gauntlet, this time offering one of the first 4K UHD releases with new SteelBook packaging, available at the time of this review's posting as an exclusive at Best Buy. Lionsgate has been somewhat baffling with how it has rolled out these 4K UHD releases, and this would almost seem to be the reverse of what happened with their handling of Dirty Dancing 4K, which appeared as an almost "stealth release" as a Best Buy exclusive in a SteelBook, only to get a so-called "wide release" in standard packaging over a year later. With regard to this film, the first 3:10 to Yuma 4K release came out way back in 2017, but now is being resurrected with SteelBook packaging.

On disc supplements are detailed in the above linked review. Additionally, this offers a nicely evocative set of images on the SteelBook cover, with a palette emphasizing both warm orangish red and cooler blue tones. The front cover offers larger images of Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, while both the front and back covers offer smaller illustrations of a number of other supporting actors and actresses, along with a kind of suggestion of a hellscape, especially on the back cover, which reproduces the devastating fire that kicks things off in the film. A see through slip cover has title information and verbiage and credits on the back, as well as an additional front cover illustration alluding to train robberies.
Back when Lionsgate's 4K UHD releases kinda sorta made sense (yes, that's a joke, folks), 3:10 to Yuma seemed like a smart choice, and it still provides great technical merits on this release, along with what for some is going to be the added allure of a handsomely designed SteelBook. For fans of this kind of packaging at least, Recommended.
