At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield and Blake, are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers, with Blake’s own brother among them.

Universal and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Director Sam Mendes' Oscar-winning World War I film '1917.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Smooth, glossy, black, fingerprint-showing front and rear panels are the primary support characteristic for this SteelBook. The front and rear panels are
also very similar in terms of design layout. The film's title -- the number "1917" -- is displayed in large type, the "19" above "17." On the front, the
numbers
are debossed. On the rear, they are not. Both depict dark blue dawn/dusk skies in the top half while the bottom depicts two soldiers, presumably
Schofield and Blake, in a more colorfully pastel scene with the sun peeking above the horizon. On the front they are running away from the viewer. On
the rear, they are running away but towards the right. The spine is also a flat black color. There is no text beyond the small, central 1917,
similarly colored as the front and rear panels but without any characters in the "17."
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that depicts a key scene from the film, featuring Schofield crossing a broken bridge
to get across a river. He is firmly on the left-hand side, looking towards the viewer. On the right is the other side of the river, the embankment, and part
of
the broken bridge in the water.

1917's SteelBook is of focused design and thrives on its subtlety and simplicity. The SteelBook is very handsome and elegant, with great, albeit subtle, colors and nice debossing work on the front. The inner panel is nicely done, too, depicting a scene that takes full advantage of the width. The movie and UHD are, of course, first-rate. The 1917 UHD SteelBook earns my highest recommendation.
