12 Monkeys: Season Three Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman July 30, 2020
This Australian Via Vision Blu-ray release of '12 Monkeys: Season Three' is a two-disc set, much like its U.S. counterpart which was released through Universal. It shares the same
1080p transfer as the U.S. disc. However, it includes a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless soundtrack whereas the U.S. disc includes a 5.1 DTS lossless
presentation. This Via Vision release also ditches the scant extras found on the U.S. release. See below for a few additional notes.

12 Monkeys: Season Three Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality

Via Vision's Australian Blu-ray release of 12 Monkeys: Season Three features the same 1080p transfer as found on the U.S. Universal release.

12 Monkeys: Season Three Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality

Via Vision's take on 12 Monkeys: Season Three features a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless soundtrack; the U.S. version includes a 5.1 lossless track
in the DTS-HD Master Audio configuration. Truth be told there aren't really any significant differences. Both tracks are open, aggressive, deep, and very
well detailed and immersive. Those World War II action scenes in the final episode remain an unequivocal highlight for engagement and clarity both.
Music soars, action elements delight, atmospherics are wonderfully engaged and positioned, and dialogue is clear and precise. See here for a slightly more fleshed out review; what's
written there applies here.
12 Monkeys: Season Three Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Universal's U.S. release contained a scant collection of extras: a few deleted scenes and a pair of trailers. Unfortunately, not even that content has ben
brought over to Via Vision's release. This one's as bare bones as they come.
12 Monkeys: Season Three Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

12 Monkeys' third season is in many ways all about the Witness, and particularly the character's identity as much as, if not more so, the
character's actions and the
wide-ranging consequences thereof. But that character is not the sole focus. Engaging plot arcs and wonderful character beats -- and actor
performances -- abound and there's rarely a dull moment or a scene or stretch when the writers were obviously aiming to fill time, so to speak. At 10
episodes, the season is particularly binge-worthy, certainly for length and access but also for the story, the surprises, and the overall quality of the
production. Via Vision's Blu-ray release is pretty much the same as the Universal set where it counts: the video is identical and the audio, while a
different encode, is pretty much a wash. Via Vision drops the scant extras on the Universal disc, which makes that U.S. version the superior of the two.
