Product Description
The legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table receives its most impressive screen treatment in Excalibur, from visionary director John Boorman (Deliverance, Hope and Glory). All the elements of Sir Thomas Malory’s classic Le Morte Darthur are here: Arthur (Nigel Terry) removing the sword Excalibur from the stone; the Round Table’s noble birth and tragic decline; the heroic attempts to recover the Holy Grail; and the shifting balance of power between wily wizard Merlin (Nicol Williamson) and evil sorceress Morgana (Helen Mirren). With Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne and Liam Neeson in notable early screen roles.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2025THE quintessential movie of King Arthur. With a star studded cast (Helen Mirren’s first major role) and FX that are mesmerizing. A must have in your collection.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2025Love this movie. I saw Excalibur when it was a the theaters 🎥.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2025Love this movie perfect
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2025There have been many movies about King Arthur. This is the one that most closely follows Le Morte d'Arthur, the classic history of King Arthur, written over 550 years ago by Sir Thomas Malory.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2025Excalibur is arguably still one of the most faithful adaptations of Mallory's compilation of Arthurian legend. It's also one of the more amusing performances from Sir Patrick Stewart as he really leans into his theater performance when trying to draw Excalibur while the rest of the film is the more commonly thought of performance from him. It's also easy to miss that Gawain is played by Liam Neeson at first glance!
One of the original sword & sorcery films of high quality, even though the sorcery aspect is far more subdued, though that is also more aligned with Mallory's Arthurian Legends.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2025A true adaptation of King Arthur and Mordred. Especially the Armor and weapons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Geen Nl ondertitels ondanks aangegeven in titel product

5.0 out of 5 stars Arthurian legend at its best and bloodiest!
This film seared itself into my brain when I sneakily watched it late night on Channel 4 as a kid. THAT scene...and that one...oh, and that one. Fantastic soundtrack to boot!
