Product Description
Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) follows a trail of blood to an infamous Mexican drug lord, Bucho, for an action-packed, bullet-riddled showdown.
After turning the independent film world upside-down with his inventive microbudget debut, writer-director Robert Rodriguez continued the myth of the mysterious Mariachi in the follow-up Desperado, armed with all the explosive pyrotechnics that Hollywood studio money can buy!
A shadowy figure stalks the Mexican underworld, travelling from town to town with only a guitar case in hand; however, what El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) has on his mind isn't music, but merciless vengeance. With enough bullets up his sleeves for every bandito in his path, the guitar-playing gunslinger has his sights firmly set on taking down a powerful drug lord (Joaquim de Almeida), but only the love of a local bookstore owner (Salma Hayek) will help the Mariachi get out of town alive.
With a rogues' gallery of memorable supporting turns from the likes of Danny Trejo, Steve Buscemi, Cheech Marin and Quentin Tarantino, Rodriguez's instant action classic blends American indie cool and Hong Kong hyper-kineticism with a Latino flavor firmly the director's own.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2021Actor Antonio B,, such a sexy ... Spanish actor from Spain ... he's so "Good" as the assassin ! Selma as his side kick and the cast of assorted (well known /supporting) Latino and White actor's. I have seen this many time time's.. over the years...! Excellent story-line ... the firearm's , the wardrobe and the setting were paired together rather well . Robert Rodriguez is a phenomenal director ....
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2021Loved the movie. In fact, I love the trilogy so much I watch them in sequence. Here's the thing though. Everyone "ignores" the actor change between El Mariachi and Desperado, as if it were a mere casting change. But, it's not. It's actually part of a massive plot error.
Why? Because the guy in El Mariachi, Campo, shows up near the end of Desperado as the one with the machine guns in his case. It's even the same actor!
They cast the same actress in the dying woman opening scene of Desperado, but again, she was actually Campo's girlfriend.
Given that it was pointedly made plain in El Mariachi, that villain was named "Moco", short for Mauricio, and that they recast the Moco role, with Bucho being yet a third actor. And clearly, Moco was NOT the same actor as who played Bucho. My conjecture, and it that because let's face it, they're both old movies and nothing more....my conjecture is that Bucho is actually Moco's boss in the cartel. If that were not true, the reveal at the end wouldn't make sense, since Desperado would already know.
Like I said, I love the movies; it's just odd the obvious blending of storylines to make it work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ein Klassiker
