Product Description

Smiling Friends follows the employees of a small company dedicated to bringing happiness to a bizarre yet colorful world. The company consists of cynical Charlie and star employee Pim, each tasked with out-calls to cheer people up. There’s also meticulous Allan who keeps things in order, mysterious Glep, and the unpredictable billionaire Boss who founded the company. The quarter-hour animated series is co-created by Michael Cusack (YOLO: Crystal Fantasy) and Zach Hadel (Hellbenders) and animated by Princess Bento Studio.

    Smiling Friends is by far one of the best adult cartoons ever made just from it's 2 seasons out alone. Just from a review of the season on this disc it would be a 5 stars, but the disc is a little flawed.

    For one the case is a very basic plastic Blu-Ray case, which is mostly fine, but something a bit more quality would have been nice. The cover art is very simple, but I think it's very effective regardless and conveys the show very well. I had no issues with the disc falling out of place in the case in shipping which has been an issue for me on many of these cheap cases.

    The disc has very few special features but the commentary track is insanely entertaining. If you are a fan of Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack's sense of humor you will find this to be one of the funniest commentary tracks you've heard.

    This is a very bare-bones Blu-Ray and it would have been nice to have a tad bit more supplementary material this gets the job done. It's a great show with a serviceable encode/authoring job and a great commentary track. Nothing much else I can say, but buy this disc and put on a happy face!

    Simple packaging, nothing crazy flashy. I love this show.

    My only complaint is pretty petty and doesn't affect my rating.

    The DVD commentary doesn't get as into the Making Of the show as I would have liked. Instead it's usually just Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel riffing. It's funny enough, but I would get annoyed with their riffing when I really just wanted to know more about the artistic process and production side of things.

    My silly griping aside, it's a blu-ray with a TV show on it and it lets me watch the show. 5 stars.
