Product Description
Experience William Peter Blatty's original vision of his novel Legion with this director's cut of The Exorcist III. For more than fifteen years, Police Lieutenant Kinderman (George C. Scott) has been haunted by the death of his friend Father Damien Karras. Now, on the 15th anniversary of the exorcism that claimed the priest's life, Kinderman's world is once again shattered when a boy is found decapitated and savagely crucified. It's just the beginning of a nightmare series of bizarre religious murders. When a psychopath claiming to be the infamous Gemini Killer admits responsibility for all the murders, Kinderman is confronted with a horrifying truth that he cannot begin to explain…the man does know intimate details that only the true killer could possibly know. There's only one problem…the Gemini Killer died in the electric chair fifteen years ago! The Exorcist III is author/filmmaker William Peter Blatty's vision of what followed after The Exorcist. Also included in this set is Legion, a Director's Cut of the film long thought lost.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2024This is a film about mood. If you're looking for blood and gore and guts and all that kind of stuff, this isn't the movie for you, but the way I see it it makes an excellent, excellent equal to the original film - - and to be clear, this film is intended to be a direct sequel to the first film, and completely ignores the second one how about which I was suggest you do the same to.
What I love the most about this film really is the tone of it -- William Peter Blatty, for all of the issues he had with the studio interfering with the film, the ending -- handle the task with directing this film very well, and at times some of the choices may hear feel like something of an homage to William Friedkins original.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2024You already know you love this film. You just want to know if the 4k restoration is beautiful and worth your dollars. It is. Get it. But let's address the "director's cut". It's a great addition to the set as a curiosity, but not necessarily a selling point. Don't expect quality to match the 4k presentation of the theatrical cut. It's on a 1080p disc, and the added and alternate scenes are sourced from VHS tape. The cuts between finished film elements and VHS are jarring. Again... it's for movie nerds, and I love that they included it, but the advertising may give the impression that the director's cut is a finished product, and it is not.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2023I don’t think a lot of people saw this one because Exorcist II was so horrible. But this is the third movie in the series. It’s actually very creepy. George C Scott puts in a great performance. Don’t expect spitting heads and puking. This is more of a detective story, but really gets under your skin with creepiness to classic scenes would be the old lady crawling on the ceiling, like a spider, and the one jump scare that will get you every time.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2023Huge fan of this film, in my opinion a very close 2nd to the original in terms of quality and story telling. Love the cast in this film and wonderful lines from Blatty and the final script. Quality of the content of the discs is great, the only minus one star for the 3rd disc, Legion. I have purchased this 3 (THREE!) times and every single copy has terrible scratches all over the 3rd disc. Have not tried to buy direct from Shout Factory, but wherever they physically produce this media has to be bottom barrel bidding. If you're OCD like me and cannot stand very deep scratches on your disc, BUYER BEWARE!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2024Thanks it finally on 4K.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2024Beatiful 4K copy. Must own for fans of the film. Audio great too, but Im deaf in one ear, so....grain of salt.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2023The theatrical release has the added exorcism because what's an exorcist movie without an exorcism? The Legion version cuts the exorcism but goes deeper into the philosophical underpinnings of the movie. Both movies have the Fabio and Sam Jackson cameos.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2023Exorcist 3 is one of my all-time favorites so I am stoked that Scream Factory has the license for it. Every release from them has been absolute stunning (given that it is a 4k scan of the original negative). Brad Dourif’s 2nd scene with George C. Scott should have won him an Oscar nomination, it’s iconic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Por fin disponible en formato UHD 4K!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing picture quality
Amazing picture quality and loaded with special features. Didn't really care for the directors cut but the 4k theatrical disc and the special features makes this worth a buy for any horror fan

5.0 out of 5 stars George C. Scott the greatest voice ever.
Quite possibly the best Horror movie ever made. It beats even the first one in my honest opinion. There is something special about a sequel that can leave you gasping for more. Untouchable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best version of this underrated film.
Transfer is spectacular. Audio is top notch. Definitely a fantastic addition to your Shout Factory 4K collection. Wonderful to see the original Director’s Cut, too.
