Halloween Kills

Michael Myers

Michael Myers

After escaping the basement fire that Laurie had set to burn him alive – thanks to Haddonfield’s well-meaning fire-and-rescue force arriving on the scene before the inferno could finish the job – Michael must now face Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, and eventually all of Haddonfield, who will stop at nothing to end his ritual bloodbath.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Laurie Strode

Realizing that Michael Myers is not dead and she’s not going to be able to fight him alone this time, Laurie must pass all her strength and survival skills to daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson – who finally believe her that Michael is back.

Judy Greer

Karen

Refusing to allow Michael to take one more member of her family, Karen must rise up through her grief and channel her rage to fight to the death to protect her mother, Laurie, and her own daughter, Allyson.

Allyson - Halloween Kills

Allyson

Now that she’s been through hell with her grandmother and mother, Allyson will not stop until she destroys the creature who has killed her father, and who now has his eyes set on the rest of her family.

Tommy Doyle

Tommy Doyle

Tommy is one of four survivors of Michael Myers’ 1978 murder spree who meet at a bar each year on Halloween. This year, when the four survivors learn that Michael has returned, it’s Tommy who leads the group and, eventually, all of Haddonfield on a mission to finally kill the monster who has terrorized them for four decades.

Halloween Kills

Product Description

The Halloween night when Michael Myers returned isn't over yet. Michael manages to free himself from Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) trap to resume his ritual bloodbath. As Laurie fights for her life from injuries from her last encounter with Michael, she inspires her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), and all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. The vigilante mob then sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all. Evil dies tonight.

Personally? I would've had Tommy and the gang survive Michael's reign of terror rather than the way they handled "the gang" in this movie - and the horrible waste of time the 3rd movie is! This was the movie that should have been the one to give us the thrilling end to Michael Meyers' life! This was the movie with the best storyline for Michael and his demise! Halloween Ends was the absolute worst - and biggest insult to those who have waited for Laurie to get her revenge! They still could have made it a trilogy - if that was their sole objective - but not in the way they did it! I was really hoping it would come down to Laurie fighting for Lindsey and Tommy as she did in the original; but instead, I was greatly disappointed in the way they chose to diss the loyal fans! Even tho I did not like almost everyone being killed off in this "second installment", it still stuck to the original premise! That is not the case with the "last installment"! The final movie was a waste of time - and money - and I would never recommend it to anyone! This specific movie was worth watching - and kept us on the edge of our seats for the final ending to the infamous Michael Meyers! Sadly, the final ending was nowhere near the great expectations we had for it.

I liked most of this movie when I saw it first. The last act, not so much.
Revisiting it a couple of years later and in flawless 4K, I like it better.

Not a perfect movie but not bad in the grand scheme of things.

The steelbook presentation is lovely. I got this at a relative good price, and it came to me in perfect condition.

Give it a shot. If you can find the steelbook at a good price, go for it. If not, the standard 4K will do the trick.

Living up to the original Halloween (and even Halloween 2) isn’t easy to do, but I admire the film makers’ attempt with the 2018 Halloween. As part of a planned trilogy, Halloween Kills picks up where the last film left off and, though good, it’s still got its share of sticking points.

I’ve been very appreciative of the effort to stick to the roots of the original; the film makers are clearly fans. But Myers does things in Halloween Kills (and in Halloween 2018) that stand out (in a bad way), like kill random people for no reason whatsoever. Myers only killed who stood in the way of his agenda, but here, entire murder set pieces target completely random people that have nothing to do with the story and are completely out of the way. Many horror films do this as an excuse to kill stuff, but for a Halloween movie, this technique comes off as lazy. “It’s been almost ten minutes! We need to kill something!” No. No, you don’t.

This film is exceptionally gory, both for a Halloween film and otherwise. I don’t mind gore, but Halloween never needed it. It’s a tad unnecessary here. The film is moving along nicely when, out of nowhere, a gory shot fills the screen, and the film makers feel the need to move closer and closer, then hold onto the shot a little too long. Okay, but… why? It seems as though the film makers don’t know either. It’s out of place with the rest of the film.

Continuity has never boded well for Halloween, mainly because those in charge realize they screwed up only AFTER each sequel was made. I’m sure a lot of fans would like to think that the myriad inconsistencies were by design and, all loose ends can be tied up with enough effort. But no. Some characters return despite their former selves being killed off in previous Halloween movies. This is why no one new to the franchise would ever be able to watch each film in order and know what’s going on. That’s not a problem for fans, but there have been so many “do overs” and “reimagining” with the franchise that someone new to the series is better off just watching a film for what it is, and don’t bother trying to make sense of it.

It’s cool to see early characters make a return though, even if not all of them last too long. It’s also rad that characters you briefly saw in the 2018 movie return for Halloween Kills, now with more relevance and screen time. It helps to pull the story together and give both films a much needed sense of community.

Halloween Kills is good, but there’s a huge drag in the middle of the film that takes place in a hospital that, in my opinion, holds it back from being as well done as Halloween 2018. It’s not that the scenes are bad, but they feel like they run on forever, and have nothing to do with the story. These scenes mostly involve a character you briefly meet in Halloween 2018 and, by the time the series of scenes end, absolutely nothing has been resolved. The film’s director hints at a multitude of messages in these scenes, suggesting that humans are monsters and blah, blah, blah. But honestly, there’s no room for real world views here, and no one cares.

It sounds as though I didn’t enjoy the movie, but I did. The parts that work do so very well. When they stick to the Halloween mythos, it’s pretty on-target, and I appreciate the film makers’ attempt to retain the original movie’s spirit. It’s just that, I believe Halloween Kills is a step up in action and gore, and a step back in everything else, to Halloween 2018.

Unfortunately this movie is not on a streaming service this year, so I just bought the Blu Ray. Every October we watch the 4 main Halloween movies - the original as well as these 3 follow up movies. The quality and sound was perfect as we watched with the surround sound, lights off, and a few creepy candles burning. You even get a DVD copy for free as well as a digital download you can use. They're all the same movie, but it's nice to have all the options available to you. Great movie by the way.
