Product Description
A haunting horror fairytale set against the backdrop of Mexico’s devastating drug wars; TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID follows a group of orphaned children who are unexpectedly given three magical wishes. As they run from the cartel that murdered their parents and the ghosts that haunt them, they must decide how to use this special gift to save their own lives and the people they love. Acclaimed by critics and filmmakers alike, Guillermo Del Toro has called TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID “an unsparing blend of fantasy and brutality, innocence and evil.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2020Wow I watch a lot of movies every year but it’s been a long time since I’ve been moved by a film the way I was by this one it’s a beautiful story at first I held off on watching it because I popped it in and it was dubbed I’ll give you directions on how to see it in Spanish (it’s original language if that’s what you’d prefer) put the movie in go to set-up there you’ll see audio there are two options under that one says English 2.0 the other says Spanish 5.1 (the one looks like this /) if you click on Spanish it will then take you down to the subtitle options you have the option of watching it with English subtitles, French subtitles or Spanish subtitles for once you choose the subtitles you want you’ll be taken to the option of main menu press it and and then simply play the movie I’d like to add that I know these are troublesome times in America but to paraphrase the movie we forget who we are when politicians who are beholden to bing donors refuse to protect us but the American people are princesses and princes, and warriors call your senator’s and representatives in Washington call senator’s from every state and tell them what you need and when you need it for we are tigers and they are not
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2021This was a 10/10 movie. I was in tears numerous times, and by the end I felt really sad, really happy, and like I had just been through a lot. Issa Lopez is brilliant; the way this movie captures childhood, fear, and hope is unmatched, even by Pan's Labyrinth.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2021I would not attempt to categorize Tigers Are Not Afraid as a horror film, nor would I credit this film once again to Guillermo del Toro, who enjoys producing credits on up-and-coming directors of Mexican cinema, often obscuring their talent; instead, I would suggest that Issa López's coming of age story feels more indebted to the magical realism of Charles Burnett or Julie Dash, or perhaps their aspects in common with J.A. Bayona's films, or Del Toro's early works like El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil's Backbone) or El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth), and fans of Stand by Me by Rob Reiner may well be enthralled in their own way. While this film uses CGI a bit liberally for my taste, I feel that instances of the grim elements at play in Tigers Are Not Afraid are visually stunning and among my favorites of recent memory. Brave, bittersweet filmmaking that I only wish had a tiny bit more practical effects.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2020Fantastic film. Would absolutely recommend.
HOWEVER, the timing of the subtitles (English) was generally early throughout the entire film. This made it a little difficult to watch and caused for a few moments to be spoiled early. Hope that can be an easy fix by Amazon.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2020Horribly translated. Si hablo, y me parecio una verguenza la traduccion. Anyway, the story is so good you stick around to the end. Such a striking ending, well worth watching. Touching on larger issues. I recommend it to anyone wanting to explore fairy tales and serious topics overlapping. Note: saw this from a youtube critic. . .
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019My girlfriend and I loved it. Although we had to read subtitles, it was a beautiful cinematic expression that one can only wish for in this day and age. My girlfriend says "my first horror fairy-tale" and "my god," I say "woot-woot" and "oh yeah!" Take it as you will, but we're fans!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2020I’m not crying, you’re crying! This film is a magical-realism journey through the heart-rending loss of innocence. The imagery, the performances, the plotting, the story, the direction. Every aspect of this production was done with love and honesty.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2020Wonderfully written and beautifully executed this film will leave your heart in pieces. Even if you don't like subtitles, you should still check this one out.
Not-your-normal-horror-movie in all the right ways!

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena edición.
Una muy buena película mexicana. Una muy buena edición. Lástima que uno tenga que comprar la edición importada , porque la edición nacional no vale la pena.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terror hecho en México.
