Arrow Video

About us

Arrow Films is a British independent film restorer specializing in world cinema, arthouse, horror and classic films. It sells Ultra HD Blu-rays, Blu-rays and DVDs.

Product Description

The Exorcist meets the Winter Olympics in this tale of demonic possession and snowbound slashing from director Christopher Webster, producer of Hellraiser and Hellraiser II: Hellbound.

For a group of young couples, a snowmobiling trip turns into a waking nightmare when one of their number is thrown from their vehicle and knocked unconscious. Seeking refuge in a nearby abandoned summer camp, the group find themselves holed up in a cabin filled with bizarre and ominous religious artefacts. As night falls, the discovery of a Ouija board amidst the dusty relics awakens a terrifying evil.

Barely released outside of its original VHS outing (for which it was retitled Demon Possessed), cult enthusiasts Arrow Video have dug up The Chill Factor from its wintry analogue grave so horror fans can rediscover this heady mixture of snow, slaughter and Satan!

Obscure regional horror that walks on thin ice
Movies shot in the snow should always get extra credit. Not only does it involve cast and crew working under less than optimal conditions, but the logistics of shooting when the temperatures drop below freezing add a new level of difficulty. Plus it all looks awesome on camera! So The Chill Factor (1993), despite its community theater acting and Cabin in the Woods cliches, gets a gold star just for trying to pull off a supernatural slasher set in northern Wisconsin. After a snowmobile race gone wrong, Jeannie and her five friends hunker down in an abandoned hunting cabin while a winter storm rages outside. A quick exploration of the premises uncovers a satanic back-story involving human sacrifice, demonic possession and missing kids. And by the time morning rolls around, Jeannie might just be the only human left alive!Produced by Windsor Lake Studios, a regional company also responsible for Arrow Video's other recent release Trapped Alive, The Chill Factor (release in the U.S. as Demon Possessed) can't compete on the same level with other flicks of the day like Leprechaun or even the Full Moon catalog. But it's endearingly earnest in its attempt to create suspense; so much so that nearly 45-minutes runs off the clock before there's even a clue that something spooky is going on.So why bother? Well, horror fans aren't the type to let an obscure curiosity pass them by. And The Chill Factor offers up enough unfamiliar scenery, strange incest subplots, corny dialogue and one incredible death-by-icicle scene to hold your attention. It also offers the first (and probably last) chance to watch a demon ride a snowmobile. Only in Wisconsin!Arrow Video's 2K restoration is up to their usual high standards, even though much of the film seems drastically underlit. Extras include interview, commentary, still and a collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film to go with that great new reversible artwork.

I thought the movie was fun and easy to get through. Sure, the acting is bad, along with the sound, editing, dubbing, and pretty much everything else, but the film has a certain charm to it that can't be ignored. I believe The Chill Factor achieves the "so bad it's good" title.

It's about a group of friends snowmobiling in the mountains. One of them gets in a nasty accident and they seek refuge in an abandoned summer camp. Turns out the abandoned camp was also home to a satanic cult. Naturally, the group discovers a Ouija board and unleashes a possessive, demonic spirit, which begins to pick off the group one by one.

I absolutely love horror movies with a Winter setting. Winter brings a sense of dread that can't be missed. It gives the film great atmosphere. The kills weren't overly gory, but they did the movie justice. The characters were also more fleshed out than most B-grade horror films. The final chase scene was a treat, but the very end of the film leaves a little to be desired.

Overall, I had a great time with it. It moves into slasher territory, which is great in my opinion. I'd say give it a watch with the lowest of expectations.

This movie is admittedly not super exciting. It was a little slow. Took awhile for the kills to start. However, I was never bored. I though the characters were pretty likable and I liked the location. I think this is worth a purchase if you don't need kills every 5 minutes. Pretty decent for the budget

This film was a little different. I’ll still watch it late nights. Arrow sure puts out some weird ones and I love them for it.

review wise im seeing either alot of 5 star reviews or 1 star reviews so this is either a love it or hate it movie, for myself i hated this movie and i think the biggest reason why is because i cared for none of the characters portrayed in the movie they were just all bland with the acting just awful, The main villain is really cringe and just really rough. I believe if this movie had come out in the late 70s or early 80s the vibe and feel not to mention special effects would have been and aged better. The main reason i bought this film was because of the snowy setting however its just so bad i cant ever imagine myself wanting to rewatch this mess of a bad movie

4.0 out of 5 stars One cool kill as the new cover suggests.

The Chill Factor. Okay this one is not as great as alot of 80's sleazy horror flicks. It lacks the cool practical effects gore and random nudity. There's only one cool kill but the flick is not without charm. I love the snowy location, the 80's ski outfits and the crappy dialogue.
