TV star Mary Page Keller (Pretty Little Liars) appears alongside Andrew Stevens (10 to Midnight, The Fury) as a couple terrorized by an age-old curse in this much-underrated late-80s offering from director Richard Friedman.

Keller plays Kate Christopher, a singer who moves into an old colonial mansion with her son and psychologist boyfriend David (Stevens). But when they make a strange and gruesome discovery in the boarded-up attic, it soon becomes clear that the mansion carries with it a dark and blood-stained past – and one that is about to terrorize them in the present.

The second feature helmed by Richard Friedman, who went on to direct such genre favourites as Doom Asylum and Phantom of the Mall: Eric’s Revenge, Scared Stiff (AKA The Masterson Curse) builds to an astonishing practical FX-laden climax sure to please fans of 80s horror. >/p>

Great film with a lot of practical effects/gore. In contrast, it has a slower pace than other horrors/slasher films. It does delight now and then. Scared Stiff has an interesting premise but is bogged down by a story that sometimes teeters off the rails. Worth a watch/buy!

    This is a perfect ghost story, told in the most unorthodox, creepy, and quirky manner. It's an underrated movie that should be considered a true classic of the genre. It's got everything, horror, ghostly apparitions, slasher slayings, a haunted house, demented characters, shocking effects, really good music, a damsel in distress...and a young child caught up in this whole ordeal. Take it from a great fan of menacing movies, this film is 90 minutes of 80's excellence that should not be missed. Scared Stiff, where have you been in my life all these years?

    I had never seen this film before the Blu-ray release. I only saw the trailer online. The movie looked like fun so I bought it. Overall I'd say it's just "okay." The first half is somewhat slow. I wouldn't call it "boring" exactly, but it's not exciting either. The real payoff comes in the final 20 minutes or so. The climax of this movie is AMAZING. It's loaded with super fun special effects and the creativity is off-the-walls INSANE! Minus the ending, the film is a solid 3 stars... the ending pushes this production to a 4. I'd recommend watching Scared Stiff, but I'd also recommend waiting for it to go on sale.

    Loved the monster make up and the climax of the movie where there was pure madness and the ending was left ambiguous at best. Also, the actress who plays the protagonist in this story does a music single called “Beat of the Heart” that is catchy and so which it was on iTunes or any other music distributor for it needs to be heard! Honestly, the real draw was the making of the film itself than the actual movie. There are some special features on the disc that explain a bunch on the movies production that I did not get make myself watch. GoodBadFlicks on YouTube on the movie which is worth the watch. All in all, the film is ok and worth to watch once but if you really enjoy this lost 1980’s horror movie take this at your own risk.
