The War Doctor
The ‘War Doctor’ was a choice made by the Eighth Doctor. Who or what did he wish to become? The Doctor made his decision quickly… ‘Warrior!’
The Ninth Doctor
A northern accent. Big smile. Bouts of melancholy and mixed with manic excitement and an offbeat sense of humour… The Ninth Doctor is the bruised but brilliant ‘last of the Time Lords’.
The Tenth Doctor
The Tenth Doctor is a fascinating combination of bonhomie and loneliness. He felt the loss of Rose Tyler very keenly but approaches all his adventures with a life-affirming gusto!
The Eleventh Doctor
The Doctor, in his eleventh incarnation, is an excited explorer of the universe, with a keen intelligence that means he often notices what everyone else has missed.
The Twelfth Doctor
The Twelfth Doctor may not be big on hugs but he’s still brave, heroic and drawn to danger… But there is a dark side. When Clara light-heartedly called herself his carer he agreed with his companion, adding ‘She cares so I don’t have to…’
The Thirteenth Doctor
This Doctor loves to be surrounded by friends – in fact she treats her travelling companions Yaz, Ryan and Graham more like family, often boosting their confidence by telling them how great they are.
The Fugitive Doctor
Living a happy domestic life on Earth, the ‘Fugitive Doctor,’ Ruth Clayton was one day shocked to discover that actually she was a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey living under a false identity to hide from extraterrestrial pursuit.
Product Description
Peter Capaldi returns as the Doctor alongside Jenna Coleman and guests including Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams. Now that the Doctor and Clara have established a dynamic as a partnership of equals, they’re relishing the fun and thrills that all of space and time has to offer. Tangling with ghosts, Vikings and the ultimate evil of the Daleks, they embark on their biggest adventures yet. Missy is back to plague the Doctor once more, the Zygons inspire fear as they shape-shift into human clones, and a new arrival moves in cosmic ways.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2024Great set and a great series. The items are packed securely, shipped immediately and delivered well. Highly recommended seller Ü
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2016Peter Capaldi continues to prove he is The Doctor. Great writing and great chemistry between actors. Jenna is in the running for Best Companion Ever. No complaints about this edition whatever. Plays fine on my setup - Panasonic Blu-ray player.
If I had to give a criticism, it would be the Doctor's assessment that there is no life after death. Seems to me, that is really out of character. The Doctor does not make pronouncements of things beyond his purview, and Religion and Eternity is one of those things. I am not offended, but a bit disappointed in the screenwriters. I would prefer they stick with either supporting Church of England doctrine or just keeping silent. (My favorite scene of all time is when the Doctor describes the Holy Family arriving in Bethlehem. "There was no room in the inn. I should know, I got the last room.")
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2016In short, prepare to enjoy this season of Peter Capaldi's Doctor even *more* than last season. I certainly have. Long may the Doctor Who series survive, staying true to its core values, avoiding corporate ideas that try to sidetrack it and ruin it, and stay alive up to and beyond its second set of 25 seasons (I want to be there to watch the new series finish its 25th season and know that it will be alive and kicking in the seasons that follow). And for those who say that Moffatt has ruined the new Doctor Who series, I have rarely (if ever) been disappointed by his writing. The only disappointment I can think of right now is: I truly wish that "The Wedding of River Song" and "The Husbands of River Song" had been longer than they were. The former, especially, feels far too short to me.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2016Peter Capaldi's second season vastly improved and overcame the uneven tone of his first season. The biggest change in this series is the number of two part stories that still feed into an overall arc of events. Capaldi's speech on War he gives in the Black Archive at the end of the Zygon two-parter is easily one of the finest written and delivered speeches in Dr. Who history (yes, I'm including Matt Smith's "I am talking" speech in the Pandorica Opens in that statement). Even more impressive is Capaldi's solo performance in an episode that makes "Groundhog Day" look like a walk in the park. The cherry on top is the closure to the River Song story line in "The Husbands of River Song,"
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2023As a longtime fan of Doctor Who, I am always eager to add new installments of this iconic series to my collection. The Complete Series 9 Blu-ray set did not disappoint! From start to finish, this season had me on the edge of my seat, with its thrilling storylines, incredible performances, and stunning visuals.
Peter Capaldi truly shines as the Twelfth Doctor in this season, bringing a depth and complexity to the character that is both captivating and inspiring. He is joined by the ever-charming Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, who proves time and again that she is a force to be reckoned with.
One of the standout episodes of this season is undoubtedly "Heaven Sent," which sees the Doctor trapped in a mysterious castle, pursued by a terrifying creature. The episode is a tour de force for Capaldi, who delivers an incredible solo performance that will leave you in awe.
But it's not just the acting that makes this season so great. The writing is top-notch, with each episode building on the last to create a cohesive and thrilling story arc. The special effects and production design are also exceptional, transporting you to different worlds and eras with ease.
Overall, Doctor Who: Complete Series 9 [Blu-ray] is a must-have for any Whovian's collection. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to the series, you'll be blown away by the quality of this season. So grab a sonic screwdriver and get ready for a wild ride through time and space with the Doctor and Clara!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2016Capaldi... I still don't like him as much as I liked Baker, Eccleston, Tennant, or Smith (my absolute favorite), but season 9 was big for Capaldi I think. He finally became The Doctor. He was clearly given a character change in response to the hate season 8 received. And it wasn't Capaldi's fault that season 8 was just terrible. He's clearly a very competent actor. Season 9 though was pretty awesome! Season 10 will be his 3rd year and if we take away anything from Tennant and Smith, it will be his finale. So here's to you Capaldi. ROCK ON! Be the doctor you were in season 9 and be fantastic! And if you end up being the doctor for 4th season, I'm cool with that!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2016Excellent! All of the episodes sandwiched in by both Christmas specials! That being said: When I ordered it, there was no description of content, or even an image of the back of the package; where you can see the list of the content....and I didn't see the reviews (unless I was just in a rush to take advantage of the, then, lower price and didn't see any of them). This IS a Must Buy, but DO NOT buy "Last Christmas" and/or "The Husbands Of River Song" (ASSUMING you haven't already), like I did--going off of the model set forth by the Series 8 set--Just Get The Box Set.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2020I just opened Series 9 and Series 10. I just opened them because I've already seen them on BBC America. I examined the disks. Both series appear to be in new condition, though I haven't played them yet. I got them in November and December of 2018.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 12th Doctor reaches his potential ... finally
Peter Capaldi's version of the Doctor had a rough start in new season 8, but he hit his stride this season. The episode "Heaven Sent" hit a new high for the revived series and there were no bad episodes (just irritating moments in some otherwise good episodes). Well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, but sad series nine..
This was a great season with awesome stories, but with a very sad ending which I will not give away. Peter Capaldi is a terrific Doctor and Jenna Coleman is probably now my most favourite companion of all time! Doctor Who never ever disappoints!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT comme d'habitude!
