Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun: Season 3 Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality  4.0 of 5

Released on Blu-ray by Crunchyroll, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun Season 3 is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original television broadcast aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The high-definition video presentation looks wonderful on the release. The crisp and well detailed animation is beautiful throughout. The background animation, line artwork, and character art are well reproduced on the release. There is a sense of charm and beauty to the animation. The art is well highlighted with the encoding.

One of the strengths of physical media is the video presentation quality. The transfer showcases the benefits of physical over streaming. Streaming video services tend to have video presentations with some more compression compared to their physical media counterparts. For home theater enthusiasts wanting the best possible video presentation, there can be subtle gains on the physical media option. The gains can include higher bit-rates and a more robust encoding style. These aspects are also well enhanced by other variables – from internet connection speeds, to data plans, number of connected users, weather issues, and other unforeseen variables.

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun: Season 3 Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality  4.0 of 5

The release includes a selection of lossless audio options: English Dolby TrueHD 2.0 and Japanese Dolby TrueHD 2.0 (with English subtitles). The release reproduces the sound direction by Hozumi Gōda (Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan). The lossless audio encoding is impressive and provides great dialogue reproduction and clarity. The score is another fantastic highlight on the release. The music is well integrated into the sound presentation.

An essential hallmark on physical media is the lossless audio encoding. Physical media provides true lossless audio encoding with higher bit-rates and a lower noise floor. Streaming video services, by comparison, tend to offer a more compressed audio presentation. Streaming options tend to have lower bit-rates and a less crisp and robust sound presentation. For home theater enthusiasts and audiophiles seeking the best possible audio experience, the physical option remains superior.

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun: Season 3 Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  1.0 of 5

The release includes a nicely designed o-card slipcover. The slipcover is fantastic and adds a nice sense of charm and style to the package design. The artwork remains the same between the slipcover and artwork underneath the slipcover. The box set looks nice in hand and will look great on the shelf. Collectors wanting the best possible option for their collection will appreciate the physical release provided by Crunchyroll.

On disc supplements include:

Textless Opening Song (HD, 1:32)

Textless Closing Song (HD, 1:31)

Unfortunately, the release has a less impressive supplemental package. The release could have been more robust in terms of the bonus features package. The release could have used some audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes, cast/crew interviews, photo galleries, art galleries, and more. Enthusiasts seek out robust supplemental packages to get the most out of their physical media ownership. Sometimes a nice set of bonus features can be the difference between a purchase or a pass in the age of streaming. Streaming is sometimes selected by some viewers as a one-and-done stream if the extras and physical goodies are not enticing enough.

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun: Season 3 Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  3.0 of 5

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun Season 3 adds more impressive animation and fantasy storytelling. The series continues to reward with a compelling cast of characters. The series beautifully showcases the production values in spades. There is so much to appreciate about the aesthetic of the series. The Blu-ray release provides excellent high-definition video, lossless audio, and a nice o-card slipcover. The only downside to the release is a somewhat sparse and underwhelming supplemental package. The release could have benefited from a more robust extras package and in the streaming era this is something that can make a considerable difference for some potential purchasers. Recommended.
