Overview

M3GAN 2-Movie Bestie Bundle (2022-2025)

Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous (and impeccably choreographed) rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma (Allison Williams) has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady (Violet McGraw), now 14, has become a teenager, rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules. Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno; Ahsoka, Pacific Rim: Uprising), the ultimate killer infiltration spy. But as Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I bitch is about to meet her match.

M3GAN 2-Movie Bestie Bundle Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Justin Dekker September 25, 2025

Timed to coincide with the release of the latest film in the franchise, the 'M3GAN 2-Movie Bestie Bundle' arrives on Blu-ray disc courtesy of Universal. Collecting the first film, 2022's 'M3GAN', and 2025's 'M3GAN 2.0', this release gives fans an opportunity to obtain both films at once in this space and money-saving collection. Both films are directed by Gerard Johnstone and star Allison Williams (Gemma), Violet McGraw (Cady), Amie Donald as the physical embodiment of M3GAN, and Jenna Davis as M3GAN's voice. Technical merits are impressive, though on-disc supplements are slim. Each film includes both the Theatrical (PG-13) and Unrated Versions. The release includes a slipcover, and Digital Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere.

M3GAN 2-Movie Bestie Bundle Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

When M3GAN arrived in 2022, I found it to be an entertaining slasher where, like Child's Play, the mayhem was delivered by a creepy doll. Rather than the supernatural, though, M3GAN was inhabited and driven by AI, and was potentially just trying to do the best it could with the task it was assigned. Box office earnings were encouraging, but whether or not M3GAN would give Chucky, the granddaddy of all creepy dolls, a run for his money remained to be seen. With the sequel, M3GAN 2.0, box office results were disappointing, due largely, I expect, to the fact that the new film abandoned its horror origins and traded them in for something that was more of a sci-fi actioner in the tradition of The Terminator. AI is still the boogeyman that must be defeated, but the stakes in the second film are much higher. Those who are willing to allow the filmmakers to use their creation to tell a story in a different genre are in for a treat. While it doesn't deliver the slasher goods, the cast, story, and effects are more interesting in M3GAN 2.0. The good news for fans is that they can enjoy both versions of the M3GAN character here. Strongly recommended.
