Third time's the charm!

Girls und Panzer das Finale 3 continues the exciting journey of the tank girls and their mission in the battlefield. The third installment in the popular movie spin-off sequel explores a new stage of the characters journeys. The films expand on the universe of the original anime production. The film is an entertaining thrill ride. Featuring animation produced by Actas (Classroom For Heroes, Girls und Panzer), fans of the saga won’t want to miss the latest installment in the franchise.

Time to tank up! Hana Isuzu (Mami Ozaki), Mako Reizei (Yuka Iguchi), Miho Nishizumi (Mai Fuchigami), Yukari Akiyama (Ikumi Nakagami), and Saori Takebe (Ai Kayano) are back in action – with their tanks along for a bumpy ride! The tank girls are having a new adventure with even more battle strategy, planning, and determination in store for each girl.

The team of tank girls must find it in themselves to face down the challenge of Chi-Ha-Tan. There is a new tank challenge involving six teams and only one shall emerge victorious. Can the heroes of the tale find victory and proceed to the next stage? It’s a mad cap journey forward – and even the Wild Wild West is a part of the equation.

The series has a great cast of characters and each of the central protagonists provide the saga with a fun sense of depth and dimension. The saga provides the characters plenty of room to showcase their fun charm: highlighting the personalities of the cast of characters and their eccentric quirks. This is par the course for Hana, Mako, Miho, Yukari, and Saori.

The feature-film entry has exceptional animation. The art style is remarkable and there is plenty to enjoy. The saga showcases a wide range of colors and the beautiful art style is well presented. The animators certainly expanded on the anime universe with a bold aesthetic for the feature film entries. The third film is no exception and looks outstanding and the animation is remarkably creative. There is much to appreciate. The feature-film has stunning animation direction by Isao Sugimoto (Girls und Panzer, Ultimate Otaku Teacher).

A thrilling adventure awaits!

The action sequences are one of the primary elements of the feature-film. The scope and scale of these action scenes is one of the central components of the third entry in the finale saga. There is a sense of everyone in the animation department putting even more time and effort in to these sequences and ultimately the results are all the more satisfying because of the extra time given to making these fun, exciting, and relevant action beats. The tank adventures are thrilling – with the integration of CG with the more traditional art style an impressive feat.

The cinematography by Yoshihiro Sekiya (If Her Flag Breaks, Fantasista Doll) is a wonderful element of the production. The cinematography is vibrant, bright, and sleek. The cinematographic style provides everything with a robust sense of style. A first- rate effort by Sekiya.

Written by Reiko Yoshida (Bomberman Jetters, Aria - The Natural), Girls und Panzer das Finale 3 is another exciting chapter in the franchise. The new installment is even more fun and energetic in comparison to the first two chapters. The story finds the characters in a new scenario with the adrenaline ramped up tenfold. Girls und Panzer das Finale 3 finds new ways to keep the series exciting and relevant – adding some new sub-plots to the experience. The wild wild west setting is one of those elements. These moments in the film are compelling and provide the story with some nice detours to the finish line.

Directed by Tsutomu Mizushima (Witch Craft Works, Girls und Panzer), Girls und Panzer das Finale 3 serves as another fitting installment in the beloved anime series. The third feature-film entry is one audiences won’t want to miss. The film has great art work and direction. Director Mizushima is a noteworthy filmmaker with a keen aesthetic and sense of scope. A solid entry in the saga.

Arriving on Blu-ray from Sentai Filmworks, Girls und Panzer das Finale 3 is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The film has a keen visual aesthetic and the encode does an excellent job of preserving the details in the animation. The colors are exceptional and have an enormous amount of "pop" throughout. The encode is top-notch: another solid effort from Sentai Filmworks.

The release includes a plethora of lossless audio options: English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound and Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound (with English subtitles). Fans will be enormously pleased with the wonderful audio selections provided on the release. Dialogue is clear, crisp, and engaging. The score is well integrated in to the sound mix. The surrounds are actively engaged and showcase an array of sound effects that make the audio experience all the more compelling.

The action scenes are rewarding and manage to imbue the third film episode into new heights – bringing the action beats even closer to audiences and as a result, viewers will be gripping the edge of their seats. Fans of the anime series won't be able to resist the latest installment of Girls und Panzer das Finale and will want to hang on for a wild ride with plenty of excitement along the way. The Blu-ray release has a strong video-audio encode. Recommended.
