Collecting some of the legendary director's best films in one release, the 'Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection' arrives on Blu-ray disc courtesy of Universal. The fifteen classic films that make up this release are some of his most beloved works, and include: 'Saboteur', 'Shadow of a Doubt', 'Rope', 'Rear Window', 'The Trouble With Harry', 'The Man Who Knew Too Much', 'Vertigo', 'North by Northwest', 'Psycho', 'The Birds', 'Marnie', 'Torn Curtain', 'Topaz', 'Frenzy', and 'Family Plot'. The discs that make up this release are identical to the previously issued Blu-ray discs, and each disc is housed on its own hub in the multi-paged Amray-style cases. A 64-page perfect bound book is also included. All of these contents are housed in an embossed, paperboard slipbox that features foil highlights. A Digital Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere is also included.

The full-color 64-page perfect-bound book collects the writings found in Universal's previous Hitchcock multi-film releases. Between its covers viewers will find several full-color pages devoted to each film included here. The material includes writings on the film, storyboards, sketches, letters, and the like. Numerous color and black-and-white photos grace the pages, as do posters, stills, and candid shots. Due its brevity and smaller size, the book doesn't go too deep on any one film or subject, but casual fans in particular will find much here it enjoy. For a complete listing of the supplemental material available on each disc, please follow the links above.

While all film fans will have their favorites, the films included here are certainly some of Hitchcock's most well-known, beloved, and enduring works; films that have influenced directors and creators across several forms of media. They are classics all. Hitchcock fans who have yet to add these films to their collections, or those looking to abandon the previous standalone releases for a space-saving collection would do well to consider the Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection. Very highly recommended.
